Industry in Fontana, CA

The completion of the Foothill Freeway extension has contributed to Fontana's increasing prominence as both a bedroom community and as a center of industry. Much of the economic boom has occurred to the north of the city core with residents that choose to visit the surrounding cities like Rancho Cucamonga.

Fontana was also well known for it's steel mill that belonged to the Henry J Kaiser Company which had been used in the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie "Terminator 2". However, due to foreign competition and mismanagement the Kaiser Steel plant was forced to close in the early 1980s.
